Flinders University celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2006 with an anniversary theme - 'Treasure the past. Shape the future.'
During 2006 two survey exhibitions featuring works from the Flinders University Art Museum that represented 40 years of collecting were presented at Flinders University City Gallery. The exhibitions revealed and examined significant aspects of the University's commitment to academic investigation in the visual arts together with cultural development and community enrichments over these years.
Identity? echoes and voices (26 May-23 July 2006) curated by Dr Janice Lally examined notions of 'identity' as applied to the collection and the changing role of the Art Museum over the years.
Vincent's eye: 25 years of collecting for Flinders University Art Museum (6 October-19 November 2006) curated by Emeritus Professor Vincent Megaw AM, assisted by Lesley Smith, provided a personal insight into his significant contribution to the collection and Art Museum.
